Backend Specialisation
Welcome to our Backend Engineering training program! This program is designed for professionals and students looking to gain the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the field of backend engineering. Our program is tailored to meet the needs of both beginners and experienced backend engineers, and will cover a wide range of topics, including server-side programming, databases, RESTful API design, and deployment.
Curriculum:
Our curriculum is built on the latest industry standards and best practices in backend engineering. It will cover the following topics:
- Server-side programming: Understanding the basics of programming in Javascript, understand Node.js and how to use express for creating server-side applications.
- Databases: Understanding the basics of database management systems such as MongoDB, and PostgreSQL and how to use them to store and retrieve data
- RESTful API design: Understanding the concepts and best practices of designing and building RESTful APIs
- Deployment: Understanding how to deploy backend applications to production environments, such as AWS, Linode & Digital Ocean.
Program Format:
The program is offered online and will run for 12 weeks. Classes are held once per week, with two classes per day (i.e by 12 PM & 8pm West African Time), to accommodate working professionals.

Entry Requirements:
This program is designed for professionals and students with or without prior experience in backend engineering or any related field. All you need to be successful during the training is a working laptop and good internet connection as the training would be highly collaborative, live & completely remote.
Outcomes:
Upon completion of this program, participants will have gained a deep understanding of the principles of backend engineering and will be able to create server-side applications, manage databases, design and build RESTful APIs and deploy backend applications to production environments. They will also have a portfolio of completed projects to showcase their skills to potential employers.
